About Me

I have over 12 years of experience providing custom application development, enterprise solution architecture and infrastructure services. I specialize in the design and development of custom solutions leveraging Microsoft Technologies; primarily involving the .NET Framework and SharePoint Products & Services.
I'm a dedicated contributor to the Global SharePoint community via my blog http://blog.rafelo.com, forums, and participation in the Houston SharePoint User Group, as well as cofounding http://www.SPTechDives.com; a developer driven SharePoint online community and user group.

Like many of us, my career started with the Internet Boom in the mid to late 90s; I was lucky enough to land a job with one of Microsoft’s premier partners in the Caribbean. During that time I had the opportunity to participate in numerous Pilot programs sponsored by Microsoft, and was a speaker for Tech-Ed Caribbean on Distributed Network Application Development and the first Adventure Works e-commerce site.

I relocated to California where I led many successful development projects for the research, internet retail, and financial industries; developing solutions with .NET, BizTalk, SQL Reporting Services, Content Management Server, and SharePoint.

In 2004 I went to work for K Hovnanian Homes where I was made IT Director of the Southern California, Northern California, and Arizona regions. I led a fantastic team of network administrators, developers, and field technicians. I was exposed to, and gained an insider’s understanding of the many business aspects involved in running a major IT operation for a publicly traded company. Since then I've relocated to Houston TX and have returned to my roots in IT consulting.
